Chlorophyll printing is an alternative photographic process where photographic images are developed on natural leaves through the action of photosynthesis. No use of chemicals. Each kind of leaf has its own shape, texture, colour and style that remind us of the unique, indigenous aspects visible in human faces. This adds another meaning while I print the same portrait in different kinds of leaves that brings varying moods and character styles of its own. The significant presence of veins, midribs and blade crises that are found on the dry leaf gives the tangible feeling of skin wrinkles, scar marks that belongs to the beautiful process of ageing. As an artist, I've tried to embody this resemblance in the pursuits of experiments with printing in my digitally shot portraits on organic leaves. As a result, the organic touch of life could be encapsulated in the prints.
This journey of witnessing the mysterious ways in which light converse with nature, brings out the originality and rawness of subjects. We all are seasons, so do these subjects. It takes its form, shape and spread of its own like a river finding its undercurrents in silence through these images. edit.
